Key Safety Measures
1. Updated Protection Policies
We have implemented the latest guidelines from the ADOSC's Manual for the Protection of Children and Youth, which outlines:
Clear definitions of appropriate and inappropriate conduct.
Procedures for recognizing and responding to signs of abuse or grooming.
Standards for interactions in various church settings, including camps, Sunday schools, and youth groups.
These policies are designed to be adaptable, allowing each parish to tailor them to their specific context while maintaining core safety standards.
2. Mandatory Training Programs
All clergy, staff, and volunteers undergo mandatory training through the Praesidium Academy, covering:
Identification of potential abusers and understanding their methods.
Strategies to prevent abuse and maintain safe environments.
Protocols for reporting and responding to incidents.
This online training ensures that our team is equipped to protect those in our care effectively.
3. Designated Safe Church Coordinator
We have appointed Christine Williamson, our Safe Church Coordinator, to oversee the implementation of safety policies, manage training programs, and serve as the primary contact for any concerns related to abuse or misconduct. This role ensures consistent adherence to safety protocols across all church activities.
