Lenten Devotional —
Digital Access

Each year, the Season of Lent invites us to slow down, reflect, and turn our hearts again toward God. To help guide us in this journey, members of our parish have written a daily devotional for the 40 days of Lent. These reflections are personal, prayerful, and rooted in Scripture—offering encouragement, honesty, and hope for the season.

You can pick up a printed copy at church on Sunday or during the week, but you can also follow along right here with our digital version.

We invite you to set aside a few minutes each day to read, pray, and meditate as we walk together toward the cross and the joy of Easter.

Entering the Season of Lent

As we begin Lent, you may notice some changes in our worship. For example, we set aside joyful words like “Alleluia,” and our liturgy takes on a quieter, more reflective tone. This can feel a little jarring at first—but that’s intentional.

Lent is meant to awaken us. It calls us to pause, examine our lives, and recognize our deep need for God’s mercy, healing, and grace.

From the Church’s ancient invitation to observe this season:

Dear People of God: The first Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord’s passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church to prepare for them by a season of penitence and fasting.

This season of Lent provided a time in which converts to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism. It was also a time when those who, because of notorious sins, had been separated from the body of the faithful were reconciled by penitence and forgiveness and restored to the fellowship of the Church.

Thereby, the whole congregation was put in mind of the message of pardon and absolution set forth in the Gospel of our Savior, and of the need which all Christians continually have to renew their repentance and faith.

I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy Word.
